”hybridity” & concept of culture

"As I have shown elsewhere (2001), the term and the concept it labels are unfortunate in that they imply that "culture" was "pure" before globalization made it into a "hybrid"...Culture is an ongoing process in which the local and the global/external are mutually constitutive forces.
