On Identities of Indigenous People: A Case of Mayan "Mam" People of Western Highland Guatemala, will be presented by myself at the annual meeting of the Japanese association of Cultural Anthropology on June 8, 2013 at Keio University, Mita, Tokyo, Japan. My sinopsis is following below, the historical dynamics of the identities of being one of "Mayan Mam Indigenous People" will be examined through the author‘s own fieldwork in two towns of the Guatemalan western highland. The author proposes that we, anthropologists, should look more the process of representation of their own self-identities than the statistic stereotyped "Indian" by the others. keywords are Indigenous people, Guatemala, the Maya, the Mam, Identity.
